Autumn Winter 2006 sees Mawi Jewellery redefined as “sophisticated jewellery with a rebellious undercurrent.”  Gone are the tusks and charms, replaced with semi precious brooches, beaded pearl collars, golden sphere pendants and sumptuous velvet cuffs.

Family Jewels
Using vintage semi precious gems inspired my family jewels inherited from a by-gone era of glamour and decadence; these precious pieces are brought right up-to-date with a dark and contemporary twist.  Silver deco chandelier earrings are set with ruby stones but subtly hinged with devilish diamante skulls.  Delicate crystal clasps are set into heavy silver bracelet chains and 1920’s gold brooches with emerald pendants are modernized with multi strand chain drops.

Collars and Cuffs
Influenced by the tribeswoman of Mawi’s native village in North East India; the traditional beaded collars of the 1950’s have been updated by experimenting with length, texture and pattern.  Oyster pearl encrusted collars settle neatly at your décolletage while longer length necklaces in cocoa beaded pearls hang like original ethnic pendants.

Golden Treasures
Gold is a strong feature within the collection; solid golden spheres and heart and arrow lockets hang from fine gold chains.  Earrings are playful with triple heart drops, and necklaces are adorned with reindeer and stallion pendants.

Charming Heritage
Signature to Mawi’s distinctive look is the ‘Heritage’ theme that runs through seasons.  British culture, history and ‘the Queen Mum’ hold special meaning here, reflected in the red, white and blue of velvet ribbons threaded through chain and adorned with heraldic charms. This is establishment with an edge.
